Existing Phase II Wilderness Medicine Electives

 

Below is a list of wilderness electives you can arrange during your Personalised Learning Course during Phase II. 

 

Breckenridge Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Elective

 

Dates: April 1- April 28, 2019

Cost: $2700

Objectives:

  1. Act as a medical group leader in backcountry or other remote settings.

  2. Advise a wilderness travel and rescue group concerning care and evacuation of ill or injured members.

  3. Plan for the medical support of wilderness and adventure travel experiences.

  4. Manage common illnesses and injuries in an austere environment with limited resources.

  5. Understand the physician’s role in search and rescue.

  6. Identify and plan for special hazards in a variety of extreme environments.

  7. Appreciate the interrelated role of humans on the environment and the changing environment’s role in public health.

  8. Demonstrate basic competence in exotic travel and wilderness survival skills.
